TO ELIMINATE ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE THROUGH THE ADVANCEMENT OF RESEARCH; TO PROVIDE AND ENHANCE CARE AND SUPPORT FOR ALL AFFECTED; AND TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DEMENTIA THROUGH THE PROMOTION OF BRAIN HEALTH.THE CHAPTER SERVES 27 COUNTIES IN OHIO, KENTUCKY AND INDIANA. IN THE PAST FISCAL YEAR, THE CHAPTER PROVIDED INFORMATION, SUPPORT AND REFERRALS TO 4,150 CALLERS OF OUR 24/7 HELPLINE, DELIVERED 250 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO MORE THAN 5,400 FAMILY CAREGIVERS, PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC; CONDUCTED 1,000 FAMILY CARE CONSULATIONS WHERE CAREGIVERS RECEIVED PERSONALIZED EDUCATION AND CARE PLANNING ASSISTANCE; SERVED 2,150 FAMILY CAREGIVERS THROUGH 26 COMMUNITY-BASED MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUPS, AND PROVIDED ON-LINE INFORMATION TO MORE THAN 95,500 UNIQUE USERS AT WWW.ALZ.ORG/CINCINNATI.

THE CHAPTER PROVIDES FREE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND OTHER DEMENTIAS. THESE INCLUDE OUR 24/7 TOLL FREE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL HELPLINE; VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL SERIES LIKE "WHAT FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW", AND THE BI-ANNUAL "DAY FOR CAREGIVERS; FAMILY CARE CONSULTATION SERVICES WHERE FAMILIES MEET WITH A SOCIAL WORKER TO DISCUSS THEIR PRESENT SITUATION AND FORMULATE A PLAN FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBER'S CARE AND SUPPORT; FAMILY SUPPORT GROUPS FOR CAREGIVERS THROUGHOUT THE ILLNESS; AND PROGRAMS FOR AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE EARLY TO MIDDLE STAGES OF THE DISEASE SUCH AS MEMORIES IN THE MAKING ART PROGRAM AND MEMORIES IN THE MUSEUM TOURS AND ART PROJECT; AND MUCH MORE VIA OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.ALZ.ORG/CINCINNATI
THE CHAPTER ADVOCATES FOR RESEARCH AND CARE FUNDING AT THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS TO ENSURE ONGOING SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY INTO THE CAUSE OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND OTHER DEMENTIAS AND ASSIST FAMILY IN THE CONTINUATION OF CARE FOR AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS DURING THIS PROLONGED AND EXPENSIVE TERMINAL ILLNESS.
THE CHAPTER PROVIDES FREE COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO BUILD AWARENESS OF THE IMPLICATIONS OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND OTHER DEMENTIAS THROUGHOUT OUR 27 COUNTY SERVICE AREA UTILIZING CLINICAL STAFF TO REACH DIVERSE POPULATIONS THROUGH OUR RURAL AND MULTICULTURAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS. THE CHAPTER PUBLISHES A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER TO PROVIDE DISEASE AND PROGRAM SPECIFIC INFORMATION WHICH CAN ALSO BE ACCESSED ON-LINE. THE CHAPTER HOSTS AN ANNUAL RESEARCH EVENT WITH A NATIONAL SPEAKER FOCUSING ON THE LATEST RESEARCH IN THE AREA OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND RELATED DEMENTIAS.
THE CHAPTER PROVIDES EDUCATION ABOUT DEMENTIA-RELATED DISORDERS AND PERSON-CENTERED CARE STRATEGIES FOR AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS TO PROFESSIONALS IN COMMUNITY-BASED AND LONG-TERM-CARE SETTINGS. THESE PROGRAMS RANGE FROM BASIC ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE INFORMATION TO CARE STRATEGIES FOR AFFECTED PEOPLE IN ADVANCED STAGES OF THE DISEASE. BI-ANNUALLY, THE CHAPTER OFFERS A FULL DAY INTERDISCIPLINARY SYMPOSIUM FOR PROFESSIONAL CAREGIVERS EXPLORING CURRENT TOPICS IN THE AREAS OF DEMENTIA RESEARCH AND CLINICAL PRACTICE FEATURING NATIONAL SPEAKERS AND LOCAL EXPERTS. THE CHAPTER ALSO COORDINATES WITH PHYSICIAN PRACTICES AND HOSPITALS TO ASSIST WITH REFERRALS FOR CARE PLANNING ONCE A PERSON IS DIAGNOSED WITH ALZHEIMER'S OR RELATED DEMENTIAS.
