THE PROVISION, THROUGH LICENSED PHYSICIANS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS AND SUPPORTING PERSONNEL, OF HEALTH CARE AND CARDIOLOGY SERVICES TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATES IN THE MEDICARE AND MEDICAID PROGRAMS AND PROVIDES SERVICES ON A CHARITABLE BASIS FOR PATIENTS WITHOUT ADEQUATE MEANS TO PAY FOR THEIR CARE. FOR 2016, THE ORGANIZATION'S UNREIMBURSED COST OF CHARITY CARE AND MEDICAID WAS APPROXIMATELY $1,890,000.THE ORGANIZATION IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN MEDICAL EDUCATION. PHYSICIANS IN THE ORGANIZATION ARE PART OF THE TEACHING FACULTY AT SAINT LUKE'S HOSPITAL OF KANSAS CITY AND HOLD FACULTY APPOINTMENTS AT THE UMKC SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. FELLOWSHIPS IN PREVENTIVE CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIOVASCULAR IMAGING ARE ALSO OFFERED. THE PROGRAM DIRECTORS FOR ALL OF THESE CARDIOVASCULAR FELLOWSHIPS ARE THE ORGANIZATION'S PHYSICIANS.THE ORGANIZATION IS ALSO DEDICATED TO CLINICAL RESEARCH. ITS PHYSICIANS ARE LEADING RESEARCH PROJECTS THAT ARE SHAPING THE FUTURE OF CARDIOLOGY BY HELPING DEFINE THE PRACTICE OF CARDIOLOGY TODAY, AND GUIDING HOW IT WILL BE PRACTICED IN THE FUTURE.
