THE JOSEPH MALEY FOUNDATION WAS FOUNDED IN 2008, IN HONOR OF THE LIFE AND SPIRIT OF JOSEPH MALEY, A YOUNG MAN WITH SEVERE DISABILITIES WHO INSPIRED OTHERS AND WHO PASSED AWAY IN AUGUST 2008 AT AGE 18 FROM LEUKEMIA. THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION STATEMENT IS, "CELEBRATING DIFFERENCES AND CULTIVATING AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY THROUGH EDUCATION AND SERVICE OF YOUTH IN GREATER INDIANAPOLIS." THE FOUNDATION'S VISION IS TO LEAD THE CULTIVATION OF A WHOLLY INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY BY EDUCATING AND SERVING YOUTH.

THE JOSEPH MALEY FOUNDATION PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR CONTINUED EDUCATION THROUGH SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. IN 2021,7 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED AT ST. LUKE CATHOLIC SCHOOL IN INDIANAPOLIS.


THE JOSEPH MALEY PUPPETS PROGRAM IS A UNIQUE WAY TO TEACH CHILDREN EMPATHY, COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING, RESPECT, AND ACCEPTANCE OF ALL WITH THE HELP OF CHILD-SIZE PUPPETS AND CAREFULLY CONSIDERED CURRICULUM. IN 2021, JOSEPH MALEY FOUNDATION'S PUPPET TROUPES PERFORMED IN CONJUNTION WITH OTHER JOSEPH MALEY FOUNDATION PROGRAMS.


JOSEPH MALEY FITNESS (ADAPTIVE ATHLETICS) - THIS PROGRAM USES ADAPTED SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES TO NURTURE A STRONG SENSE OF SELF-ESTEEM AND POSITIVE SELF-IMAGE FOR BOTH OUR PARTICIPANTS AND VOLUNTEERS. ATHLETES ARE TEAMED WITH TRAINED VOLUNTEERS AND ENJOY THE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL BENEFITS OF EXERCISE. IN 2021, ATHLETES PARTICIPATED IN VARIOUS EVENTS THROUGHOUT INDIANAPOLIS WITH JOSEPH MALEY FOUNDATION VOLUNTEERS.
