2021 AWIEF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: THE ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM REACHES OUT TO WOODWORK INSTRUCTORS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES AND INVITES EACH TO NOMINATE ONE OUTSTANDING WOODWORKING STUDENT WHO WOULD BE WORTHY OF RECEIVING FINANCIAL AID AS ASSISTANCE IN HIS/HER STUDIES OF WOODWORKING AS A CAREER OBJECTIVE. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES AN A ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM WHICH MUST BE RETURNED TO THE FOUNDATION BY A STATED DUE DATE. OFFICIAL SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS ARE ALSO REQUIRED AS PART OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS. AFTER THE NOMINATION DATE CLOSES, THE AWIEF BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETS TO REVIEW EACH SCHOLARSHIP NOMINEE'S APPLICATION AND, AS A GROUP, COMES TO CONSENSUS IN DETERMINING WHICH NOMINEES ARE AWARDED A SCHOLARSHIP. CONSIDERATIONS IN DETERMINING SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS INCLUDE: THE NOMINEE'S WORK HISTORY, CURRENT GRADE POINT AVERAGE, COURSES OF STUDY BASED ON TRANSCRIPTS, REFERENCE LETTERS FROM INSTRUCTORS, AND A STATEMENT ABOUT HIS/HER FUTURE WORK PLANS IN THE WOODWORKING INDUSTRY UPON COMPLETION OF STUDIES. WINNERS ARE SELECTED BY VOTE OF THE AWIEF BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND NOTIFIED BY US MAIL. FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS ARE MADE BY AWI EDUCATION FOUNDATION CHECKS MADE JOINTLY PAYABLE TO THE STUDENT'S SCHOOL BURSAR OFFICE AND THE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER. SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS ARE DEPOSITED DIRECTLY INTO THE STUDENT'S SCHOOL EXPENSE ACCOUNT AND CAN ONLY BE USED TO PAY FOR TUITION FEES, TEXT BOOKS OR RELATED COURSE SUPPLIES AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SCHOOL'S BOOKSTORE.
