DEVELOP LEADERSHIP IN NYC YOUTH THROUGH SAILING AND PROVIDING MARITIME RECREATION TO THE COMMUNITY.

YOUTH PROGRAM - OUR CORNERSTONE PROGRAM SAIL ACADEMY, SERVES APPROXIMATELY 200 STUDENTS FROM NINE PUBLIC SCHOOLS AT TWO LOCATIONS. STUDENTS LEARN STEM AND LEADERSHIP THROUGH SAILING AND PREPARE FOR COLLEGE AND CAREERS.MANY STUDENTS BECOME INTERNS WHERE THEY WORK IN A PARTICULAR DEPARTMENT AT HRCS. OTHER YOUTH PROGRAMS INCLUDE YOUTH RACING, CITY SAIL SUMMER CAMP, AND SHORTER STEM AND SAILING PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS AND GROUPS THROUGHOUT THE CITY.


ADULT PROGRAM - THE ADULT PROGRAM CONSISTS OF: COMMUNITY SAILING - A FEE-BASED SAILING AND MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES AFFORDABLE WATERFRONT RECREATION TO NYC THROUGH A US SAILING SANCTIONED COMMUNITY SAILING CENTER. FEES AND DUES FROM THIS PROGRAM ARE USED TO SUBSIDIZE THE COSTS OF THE PROJECTS WHICH ARE PROVIDED TO UNDERSERVED YOUTH AT REDUCED OR NO COST THROUGH THE YOUTH PROGRAM; AND SOLDIERS UNDER SAIL - AN ADAPTIVE SAILING PROGRAM FOR VETERANS DELIVERED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOCAL VETERAN'S ADMINISTRATION. IN 2021, HRCS LAUNCHED AN ADAPTIVE SAILING PROGRAM FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS WITH PHYSICAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.
