PROGRESSIVES FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM'S MISSION IS TO PROTECT LOW WAGE AMERICAN WORKERS FROM UNEMPLOYMENT AND WAGE SUPPRESSION CAUSED BY UNFAIR LABOR AND TRADE PRACTICES, INCLUDING IMPORTATION OF LARGE NUMBERS OF LOW WAGE FOREIGN WORKERS WHO ARE SUBJECT TO EXPLOITATION BY FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC CORPORATIONS WORKING IN THE UNITED STATES. IT ALSO SEEKS TO ENHANCE THE WORKING CONDITIONS OF WORKING PEOPLE WORLDWIDE THROUGH ENHANCING ECONOMIC, HEALTH, SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS IN THE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.
