TO PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND TRAINING AND ATHLETIC COMPETITION IN A VARIETY OF OLYMPIC-TYPE SPORTS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES, GIVING THEM CONTINUING OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP PHYSICAL FITNESS, DEMONSTRATE COURAGE, EXPERIENCE JOY AND PARTICIPATE IN THE SHARING OF GIFTS, SKILLS AND FRIENDSHIP WITH THE FAMILIES, OTHER SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES AND THE COMMUNITY.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS GEORGIA, INC. ("SOGA")PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND SPORTS TRANING AND ATHLETIC COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABITIES OF ALL ABILITY LEVELS. PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS CONTRIBUTES TO THE PHYSICAL, SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE ATHLETE. THE ATHLETES GAIN CONFIDENCE AND BUILD POSITIVE SELF-IMAGE THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN SUCCESSFUL SPORTING EVENTS. ATHLETES ALSO GAIN SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT, LEARN INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS, FORM RELATIONSHIPS AND HELP OTHERS UNDERSTAND THEIR EXTRAORDINARY CAPABILITIES DESPITE HEALTH ISSUES THAT THEY EXPERIENCE DAILY. THE HEAD START PILOT PROGRAM WAS SUCCESSFUL WITH NOW 10 TOTAL HEAD START PROGRAMS TO SERVE YOUNG ATHLETES. CURRENT NUMBER OF YOUNG ATHLETES: 321.1,339 VOLUNTEERS AT 2020 INDOOR WINTER GAMES (EXCEEDED THE COUNT FROM THE PAST 4 YEARS). SOGA RECEIVED A $100,000.00 GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND SOI. 2019 STATE SUMMER GAMES HAD AN INCREASE OF 41% IN GENERAL VOLUNTEERS. 2020 STATE WINTER GAMES - EXCEEDED THE CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP GOAL OF $83,000 BY $2,948. SCREENED 135 ATHLETES AT HEALTHY SCREENING LOCATIONS AT THE 2020 STATE WINTER GAMES. LETR OVERALL TOTAL - $993,162 RAISED THROUGH EVENTS, DONATIONS, AND SPONSORSHIPS. PUBLIX CAMPAIGN - PUBLIX TORCH CAMPAIGN RAISED OVER $828,000. COORDINATED VISITS TO 190 STORES STATEWIDE. COPS ON DONUT SHOPS - RAISED OVER $44,500. OVER 50 STORES PARTICIPATED. BOB BUSSE GOLF CLASSIC: - 128 GOLFERS PARTICIPATED. 2020 DUCK PLUCK - EXCEEDED THE SPONSORSHIP REVENUE BY $3,345. EXCEEDED THE NUMBER OF DUCKS ADOPTED.50TH ANNIVERSARY FLAME OF HOPE CONSTRUCTED AND PLACED ON THE ATLANTA BELTLINE WITH MAXIMUM VISIBILITY.IN 2020 SOGA PARTENRED WITH THE ATLANTA HAWKS BY SHARING THEIR IN HOME VIRTUAL WORKOUTS.
