THE MISSION OF THE SICKLE CELL DISEASE ASSOCIATION OF ILLINOIS IS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THIS DISEASE AND TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER WITH IT. WE DO THIS BY PROVIDING COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS SUCH AS NEW BORN SCREENING, GENETIC COUNSELING AND EDUCATION.

Part 3 - Line 4a

A PATIENT GRANT PROGRAM WHICH ASSISTS WITH COUNSELING EDUCATION AND DIRECT GRANTS. PROVIDE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS IE..SUMMER CAMP, XMAS PARTY,BABY SHOWERS, ETC. THAT BRING TOGETHER SICKLE CELL PATIENT FORM AGES 7 TO 13. THE PROGRAMS ARE GEARED TO STRENGTHEN THE CHILDREN EMOTIONALLY AS WELL AS PHYSICALLY.PROVIDED A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM COMMITTED TO HELPING SICKLE CELL PATIENTS ATTAIN AN EDUCATION AT THE COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY LEVEL.PROVIDE NEWBORN SCREEN SUPPORT TO AT RISK FAMILIES.PARTICIPATED IN ILLINOIS SICKLE CELL ACTION NETWORK (ISCAN) PROGRAM ESTABLISHED TO COLLECT CRITIAL INFORMATION ON THOSE WITH SICKLE CELL TO IMPROVE MEDICAL FOLLOW UP.
