THE JEWISH COMMUNITY RELATIONS COUNCIL IS THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS ARM OF THE ORGANIZED JEWISH COMMUNITY, BUILDING CONSENSUS ON ISSUES OF CONCERN, AND THEN COMMUNICATING THOSE INTERESTS TO POLICY MAKERS, FAITH & ETHNIC COMMUNITIES, CIVIC LEADERS, EDUCATORS AND THE MEDIA.

EXAMPLES OF JCRC'S POLICY WORK: JCRC WORKS IN COALITIONS WITH GROUPS THAT ADVOCATE FOR CIVIL AND VOTING RIGHTS, HOUSING ACCESSIBILITY, HUMAN AND SOCIAL SERVICES, IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE SUPPORT, QUALITY SCHOOLS, ACCESSIBLE HEALTH CARE AND REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, CHURCH-STATE SEPARATION, AND POLICIES THAT BENEFIT THE MOST VULNERABLE, INCLUDING CHILDREN, DISABLED, AND ELDERLY. JCRC ADVOCATES IN SUPPORT OF STRENGTHENING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INDIANA AND ISRAEL, AS WELL AS POLICIES THAT COMBAT DISCRIMINATION, BIGOTRY, ANTISEMITISM, AND THE DELEGITIMIZATION OF ISRAEL. EXAMPLES OF JCRC'S PROGRAMMING: ISRAEL ENGAGEMENT FELLOWSHIP - AN INTENSIVE SEMINAR FOR JEWISH TEENS TO LEARN ABOUT ISRAEL, ZIONISM, THE MEDIA, AND WAYS TO COMBAT THE DELEGITIMIZATION OF ISRAEL. STUDENT TO STUDENT - JEWISH TEENS SPEAK TO CLASSROOMS OF THEIR HIGH SCHOOL PEERS ABOUT JUDAISM, JEWISH LIFE, CUSTOMS, HOLIDAYS, AS WELL AS ANTISEMITISM, THE HOLOCAUST, AND ISRAEL. TEACHER TRAINING & SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS TO USE ACCURATE CURRICULAR MATERIALS TO TEACH ABOUT JEWS, JEWISH HISTORY, ANTISEMITISM, THE HOLOCAUST, ISRAEL, AND THE ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT. MULTI-FAITH DIALOGUES - CONNECT MEMBERS OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY TO MEMBERS OF THE CHRISTIAN, MUSLIM, HINDU COMMUNITIES. INTERGROUP ENGAGEMENT - CONNECT MEMBERS OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY TO MEMBERS OF THE BLACK, LATINO, LGBTQ+ COMMUNITIES. JEWISH COMMUNITY LOBBY DAY - JCRC TALKS FEATURING CIVIC LEADERS ON THE IMPACT OF COVID ON MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES.
