THE BOSTON EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION, INC. (BEDF) IS THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR THE BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS (BPS). AS THE FISCAL AGENT, NON-PROFIT PARTNER OF BPS, BEDF ENABLES A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OPERATED BY BPS SCHOOLS AND DEPARTMENTS. THE MAJORITY OF BEDF FUNDING REVENUES COME FROM LOCAL AND NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY, SUCH AS FOUNDATIONS, CORPORATIONS AND INDIVIDUAL DONORS. THIS FUNDING SUSTAINS AND EXPANDS EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THAT MAY OTHERWISE BE UNAVAILABLE, SUCH AS SCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOR STUDENTS, LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS, AND ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES.

PROGRAM: STEM READINESS & BEESDESCRIPTION: THIS PROGRAM TRAINED EDUCATORS AND PROVIDED ACCESS TO NECESSARY TOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES TO SUCCESSFULLY TEACH STEM EDUCATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY ENVIRONMENT. THE PROGRAM OFFERED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR STEM EDUCATORS, ENHANCEMENT OF STEM CURRICULA AND ENGAGEMENT WITH STEM PROFESSIONALS.


PROGRAM: EARLY CHILDHOOD AT HOME KITSDESCRIPTION: FUNDING FROM THE BOSTON OPPORTUNITY AGENDA AND UNITED WAY WAS USED TO PURCHASE CURRICULUM BOOKS AND ELA SUPPLIES FOR 16,746, K0 TO 2ND GRADE STUDENTS IN 85 SCHOOLS ACROSS THE DISTRICT. MATERIALS WERE DELIVERED TO SCHOOLS FOR DISTRIBUTION TO FAMILIES' HOMES. THE MATERIALS WERE INTENDED TO SUPPORT REMOTE STUDENT LEARNING DUE TO COVID CLOSURES.


PROGRAM: EARLY CHILDHOOD K! PROGRAMDESCRIPTION: THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FOCUS CURRICULUM AND ITS ADAPTATIONS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OUTSIDE BPS. FUNDS ALSO SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD OPERATIONS AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT WORK. .
