Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

THE ORGANIZATION IS STRONGLY COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE MILITARY WHO WERE INJURED. THE ORGANIZATION BUILDS OR MODIFIES HOMES AND GIFTS THESE HOMES, MORTGAGE-FREE, TO VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, INCLUDING GOLD STAR FAMILIES. THESE MORTGAGE-FREE HOMES NOT ONLY HELP TO REMOVE THE FAMILIES' FINANCIAL BURDENS, BUT THEY ALSO HELP TO RESTORE THE INDIVIDUALS' FREEDOM, AND ENABLE THE VETERANS TO LEAD MORE INDEPENDENT AND PRODUCTIVE CIVILIAN LIVES. TO FURTHER ASSIST VETERANS, THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS FINANCIAL PLANNING SERVICES, FAMILY FUNDING, AND EMERGENCY SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION ENCOURAGES VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO TAKE PART IN ITS EVENTS WITH OTHER VETERANS TO HELP BUILD CAMARADERIE AND SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE WOUNDED VETERANS. IT IS THE ORGANIZATION'S HONOR TO SUPPORT THE SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN WHO LOYALLY AND COURAGEOUSLY SERVED THE COUNTRY IN THE ARMED FORCES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

HOME AWARD PROGRAM - BUILDING HOMES FOR HEROES IS DETERMINED AND DEVOTED TO BRINGING RENEWED HOPE, HEALING AND WELL-BEING TO OUR NATION'S INJURED VETERANS. THE ORGANIZATION CONSTRUCTS AND MODIFIES HOMES, AND GIFTS THEM, MORTGAGE-FREE, TO INJURED VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, INCLUDING GOLD STAR FAMILIES, WHILE PROVIDING A GROWING NUMBER OF SUPPORT SERVICES TO ENABLE THEM TO BUILD BETTER AND BRIGHTER LIVES AND REACH NEW HEIGHTS. THESE MORTGAGE-FREE HOMES NOT ONLY HELP TO REMOVE THE FAMILY'S FINANCIAL BURDEN, BUT THEY ALSO HELP TO RESTORE THE INDIVIDUAL'S FREEDOM, AND ENABLE THE VETERAN TO LEAD A MORE INDEPENDENT AND PRODUCTIVE CIVILIAN LIFE. ALL HOMES WE GIFT ARE CUSTOMIZED AND BEAUTIFIED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF A PHYSICALLY OR PSYCHOLOGICALLY DISABLED VETERAN AND THEIR FAMILIES, TO HELP IMPROVE THEIR DAY-TO-DAY QUALITY OF LIFE AND TO LEAD A HOPEFUL FUTURE AHEAD. WE OFTEN GIFT THE HOME WITH A HEROES' WELCOME, FEATURING A HEARTFELT CEREMONY WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION REACHED MORE THAN ONE HOME EVERY 11 DAYS, ON AVERAGE, IN 2021, AND HOPES TO REACH MORE THAN 40 HOMES IN 2022, INCLUDING OUR MILESTONE 300TH HOME. WE'VE FOUND THAT THE GIFT OF A MORTGAGE-FREE HOME PROVIDES PERMANENT STABILITY AND A LIFE-CHANGING FOUNDATION FOR THE VETERAN TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS, PROFESSIONALLY, ACADEMICALLY AND RECREATIONALLY, THAT THEY MIGHT NEVER HAVE IMAGINED ACHIEVING FOLLOWING THEIR INJURIES. IT'S TRULY AN HONOR TO SERVE THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE COURAGEOUSLY SERVED AND SACRIFICED SO MUCH FOR ALL OF US AND FOR OUR COUNTRY.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE - BHH GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO CREATE SERVICES TO ENABLE VETERANS TO BUILD BETTER AND BRIGHTER LIVES AND REACH NEW HEIGHTS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES THE NEW - AND SOMETIMES FIRST-TIME HOMEOWNERS - WITH THE APPROPRIATE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE NEEDED TO MAINTAIN HOME EXPENSES AND TO PLAN FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE. TO ACHIEVE THAT END, ALL HOME RECIPIENTS ARE PARTNERED WITH CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PROFESSIONALS TO ASSIST THEM THROUGH THEIR FINANCES AND HELP VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOCUS ON LIVING A PROMISING AND PRODUCTIVE STRESS-FREE LIFE, WHILE ALSO LEARNING ABOUT INVESTING AND SAVING FOR THE FUTURE. WHEN EMERGENCY WATERSHED FUNDING IS REQUIRED, THE ORGANIZATION STEPS UP TO HANDLE SPECIAL CASES. THE EMERGENCY FUNDING CAN POSITIVELY IMPACT A MILITARY FAMILY DURING A TIME OF CRISIS. A MAJOR FOCUS OF THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM IS TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF MINIMIZING OR ELIMINATING DEBT ENTIRELY, AND THE FREEDOM IT PROVIDES TO LIVE AN EVER MORE HOPEFUL FUTURE AHEAD WITH NEW OPPORTUNITIES NEVER BEFORE IMAGINED PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE SUPPORT OF BHH AND ALL OF OUR GENEROUS SUPPORTERS. THIS PROGRAM HAS LED TO AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD OF HOME MANAGEMENT AND SUCCESS WITH OUR FAMILIES. TO DATE, NOT A SINGLE FAMILY HAS A LOST THEIR HOME FOR FINANCIAL REASONS AS A RESULT OF THIS PROGRAM.

EMERGENCY FUNDING - THE ORGANIZATION'S EMERGENCY AND WATERSHED FUNDING PROGRAM HELPS VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO EXPERIENCE SUDDEN LIFE-ALTERING MOMENTS IN THEIR LIVES. THESE MOMENTS CAN INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE LOSS OF JOB, AN ILLNESS, OR A MAJOR REPAIR NEEDED DUE TO DISASTROUS WEATHER EVENTS SUCH AS HURRICANES, FLOODING OR TORNADOES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE TO VETERANS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS OR ARE ON THE BRINK OF HOMELESSNESS. IN 2020 AND 2021, TO SUPPORT OUR VETERANS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE ACCOMPANYING ECONOMIC CRISIS, THE ORGANIZATION SENT HUNDREDS OF $500 EMERGENCY RELIEF CHECKS TO VETERANS IN NEED. ALREADY AMONG OUR NATION'S MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS, THESE FUNDS HELPED OUR VETERANS PURCHASE ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR THE FAMILIES, AND WAS YET ANOTHER WAY OF LETTING OUR HEROES KNOW THEY ARE APPRECIATED AND CARED FOR DURING CHALLENGING TIMES.

TEAM BUILDING, EDUCATIONAL, INSPIRATIONAL - BHH RECOGNIZES THE LIBERATING AND THERAPEUTIC IMPACT THAT RECREATION AND INTERACTION CAN HAVE ON A VETERAN'S RECOVERY. TO THAT END, WE HOST ANNUAL TEAM BUILDING EVENTS DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN BONDS AND CAMARADERIE AMONG AN EVER GROWING NUMBER OF VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE CONFERENCE COMPRISES FAMILY FUN, INSPIRATIONAL ACTIVITIES, RECOGNIZABLE SUPPORT AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, GIVING OUR VETERANS THE OPPORTUNITY TO REUNITE WITH THEIR FELLOW SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE STRUGGLED THROUGH SIMILAR ORDEALS, WHICH CAN BE A VERY HEALING EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURIES AS WELL AS THEIR PHYSICAL INJURIES. IT'S PART OF OUR GOAL TO HELP OUR VETERANS SUCCEED, WHICH WE ALSO ACCOMPLISH BY SUPPORTING VETERANS IN THEIR PARTICIPATION IN ATHLETICS, INCLUDING THE WARRIOR GAMES AND INVICTUS GAMES, AND WE SUPPORT SOME WHO HAVE REACHED NEW HEIGHTS IN OUTDOOR THERAPEUTIC ADVENTURES, INCLUDING CLIMBING THE HIGHEST MOUNTAINS IN THE WORLD. THIS PROGRAM IS FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT WE ARE BUILDING BETTER AND BRIGHTER LIVES FOR OUR NATION'S HEROES, AND MAKING OUR COMMUNITIES AND COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE. ALTHOUGH TEAM BUILDING DID NOT TAKE PLACE IN 2020 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, WE WERE STILL ABLE TO SUPPORT OUR VETERANS IN THEIR ATHLETIC PURSUITS.
