TO SUSTAIN THE LEGACY OF HARRIET BEECHER STOWE AND THE BEECHER FAMILY HOME IN CINCINNATI, OHIO. WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO: FACILITATING HISTORICAL EXPLORATION, RAISING AWARENESS AND STIRRING PASSION FOR POSITIVE CHANGE, AND SUPPORTING DIALOGUE ABOUT SOCIAL ISSUES RELATED TO THAT LEGACY.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE HARRIET BEECHER STOWE HOUSE IS A HISTORIC HOUSE MUSEUM AND CULTURAL SITE THAT IS PART OF THE OHIO HISTORY CONNECTION NETWORK. WE TELL THE STORY OF HARRIET AND THE 18 YEARS THAT SHE SPENT IN CINCINNATI AS INSTRUMENTAL IN DEVELOPING HER ANTI-SLAVERY PASSION AND ENABLING HER TO WRITE UNCLE TOM'S CABIN. BY SHARING THE STORY OF ABOLITIONISM AND EQUITY IN THE 19TH CENTURY, WE CAN RELATE HER WORDS AND DEEDS TO THE HOUSE'S ROLE IN THE CIVIL RIGHTS CONCERNS OF THE 20TH CENTURY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES TODAY.
