PROVIDE SOCIAL RECREATIONAL, CULTURAL, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

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
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS: OUR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM PROVIDED SAFE, FREE TRANSPORTATION FOR SENIORS AND OTHERS WITH UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE AND FOLLOWING STRICT COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS. WE ARE EQUIPPED WITH A WHEELCHAIR-TRANSPORT MINIBUS AND A SMALL FLEET OF VANS. DURING THE JANUARY - DECEMBER 2021 PERIOD, WE PROVIDED 2,058 ONE WAY TRIPS FOR 405 SENIORS AND/OR DISABLED PERSONS. THE OVERALL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM PROVIDED 2,649 RIDES TO 516 CLIENTS. RIDES BY COMMUNITY SERVED WERE: AMENIA- 702, DOVER - 634, MILLBROOK - 164, MILLERTON - 517, PINE PLAINS - 277, AND STANFORDVILLE - 355.DURING THE JANUARY - DECEMBER 2021 PERIOD, NECC'S MILLERTON FARMERS MARKET CONTINUED TO FOLLOW CAREFUL SAFETY GUIDELINES SO WE COULD OFFER FRESH LOCAL FOODS WITHOUT INTERRUPTION AT OUR FARMERS MARKETS. WE WERE ABLE TO SUPPORT 12 LOCAL AGRICULTURAL VENDORS, 8 ARTISAN VENDORS, AND SERVED AN AVERAGE OF 303 VISITORS PER MARKET. NECC ALSO PROVIDED SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO CONNECT RESOURCES AND PEOPLE INCLUDING A HISPANIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL, EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES, INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS, AND FACILITATING AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONVERSATIONS.
FAMILY AND FOOD PROGRAMS: FAMILY PROGRAMS: DURING THE JANUARY - DECEMBER 2021 PERIOD, OUR PROGRAMS ASSISTED 31 INDIVIDUALS APPLY FOR HOUSING, UTILITY, EMERGENCY FOOD, SHELTER AND OTHER BENEFITS. SINCE THESE SERVICES OFTEN BENEFIT AN ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD, 287 INDIVIDUALS WERE IMPACTED. WE ALSO HELPED WITH EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE, CLOTHING AND COATS, AND ACCESS TO FOOD AND OTHER ESSENTIALS. FOOD PROGRAMS: NECC'S WEEKLY FOOD AND SUPPLY PANTRY PROVIDED WEEKLY FOOD AND SUPPLY SUPPORT TO 415 CLIENTS THROUGH HOME DELIVERY AND CURB-SIDE PICK UP. FROM JUNE THROUGH DECEMBER, OUR FRESH FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM PROVIDED FRESH LOCAL VEGETABLES, MILK, AND EGGS TO 490 HOUSEHOLDS THORUGH OUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES (INCLUDING OUR OWN). THE SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM PROVIDED 5,922 MEALS TO 121 CHILDREN.
