Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

TO EXPLORE THE THEMES OF URBAN VITALITY, IDENTITY AND CULTURE. LOCATED IN LOWER MANHATTAN, THE MUSEUM IS THE ONLY INSTITUTION IN THIS COUNTRY DEVOTED TO THE STORY OF TALL BUILDINGS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. THROUGH EXHIBITIONS, COLLECTIONS, PROGRAMS, AND OUR WEBSITE, THE MUSEUM EXPLORES THE ROLE OF TALL BUILDINGS AS OBJECTS OF DESIGN, PRODUCTS OF TECHNOLOGY, SITES OF CONSTRUCTION, INVESTMENTS IN REAL ESTATE, PLACES OF WORK AND RESIDENCE AND POWERFUL CULTURAL SYMBOLS. THE GALLERY IS A WORK OF CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE BY ROGER DUFFY OF SKIDMORE, OWINGS AND MERRILL. USING THE REFLECTIONS OF A MIRROR-POLISH STAINLESS STEEL FLOOR AND CEILING, THE DESIGN CREATES AN IMPRESSION OF ENDLESS VERTICAL TOWERS.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROGRAMS - THE MUSEUM OFFERED MANY VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, LECTURES, AND AUTHOR'S TALKS THROUGHOUT FY21. NORMALLY THESE WOULD HAVE BEEN HELD IN THE MUSEUM'S GALLERIES, BUT DUE TO THE PANDEMIC THEY WERE ALL LIVE-STREAMED TO PROFESSIONAL AND GENERAL-INTEREST AUDIENCES.

EXHIBITIONS - THE MUSEUM HAD NO NEW EXHIBITIONS IN FY21, AS IT WAS CLOSED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, BUT IT SPENT SUBSTANTIAL TIME PREPARING THE NEW EXHIBITIONS.

EDUCATIONAL TOURS - THE MUSEUM HAD NO TOURS IN FY21 AS IT WAS CLOSED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IT DID SPEND SOME TIME PREPARING FOR FUTURE TOURS. THE MUSEUM NORMALLY PROVIDES TOURS OF ITS EXHIBITS AND COLLECTIONS TO GROUPS FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO COLLEGE, AS WELL AS SENIOR GROUPS. EDUCATORS LEAD TOURS (UP TO 30 STUDENTS) THAT INCORPORATE LEARNING FROM ACROSS THE NEW YORK STATE CURRICULUM, INCLUDING SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, THE ARTS, AND SOCIAL STUDIES. STUDENTS LEAVE WITH AN APPRECIATION OF SKYSCRAPERS AND THEIR ROLE IN SOCIETY AS WELL AS A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE METHODS OF CONSTRUCTING TALL BUILDINGS.
