THE MUSEUM OF CHINESE IN AMERICA AIMS TO ENGAGE AUDIENCES IN AN ONGOING AND HISTORICAL DIALOGUE, IN WHICH PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS ARE ABLE TO SEE AMERICAN HISTORY THROUGH A CRITICAL PERSPECTIVE, TO REFLECT ON THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES, AND TO MAKE MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN: THE PAST AND THE PRESENT, THE GLOBAL AND THE LOCAL, THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.

TO PRESERVE AND INTERPRET THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF CHINESE AND THEIR DESCENDANTS IN THE UNITED STATES. RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATE HISTORICAL AND CURRENT INFORMATION AND MATERIALS REGARDING THE COMMUNITY HERITAGE. INCLUDED IN ITS PROGRAMS IS THE DIGITAL MOCA PROJECT, A NATIONAL ONLINE DESTINATION FOR PEOPLE TO EXPLORE, CONNECT WITH AND LEARN ABOUT THE CULTURE AND EXPERIENCES OF THE CHINESE IN AMERICA FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. AT THE HEART OF THIS PURELY ONLINE EXPERIENCE WILL BE A REPOSITORY THAT WILL COLLECT, DOCUMENT AND PRESENT CHINESE AMERICAN STORIES FROM AROUND THE NATION, INCLUDING TEXT, IMAGES AND MULTIMEDIA--AND INCORPORATE THEM INTO MOCA'S COLLECTIONS. IT WILL CREATE A VIBRANT ONLINE COMMUNITY THAT ALSO REDEFINES THE NATURE AND CAPACITY OF A CULTURAL HISTORY MUSEUM AS A CENTER FOR PRESERVING HUMAN STORIES, NOT JUST OBJECTS.MOCA MAINTAINS A RIGOROUS CURRENT EXHIBITS SCHEDULE WITH TWO NEW EXHIBITS EACH YEAR AS WELL AS MAINTENANCE OF A GROWING EXHIBIT CALLED "WITH A SINGLE STEP". MOCA HOSTS OVER 200 PROGRAMS EACH YEAR INCLUDING EVENTS AND CONFERENCES ON GENEALOGY, BOOK TALKS, TEACHER EDUCATION, CHINESE AMERICAN HISTORY, AND ASIAN AMERICAN ARTS DEVELOPMENT.
