OUR MISSION IS TO THRILL AND MOVE OUR AUDIENCES, DANCERS, CHOREOGRAPHERS, SUPPORTERS AND STAFF WITH ART AND DISCIPLINE. OUR VISION IS TO CONTINUOUSLY INCREASE IN PASSION AND ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE AND STRENGTH, ACHEIVING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION AS A CREATIVE FORCE IN DANCE.

DURING THE 2020-2021 SEASON, FESTIVAL BALLET PROVIDENCE PRODUCED SEVERAL PROJECT BASED INITIATIVES, AS THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IMPACTED THE ABILITY TO CONDUCT LIVE PERFORMANCES AND MOUNT A FULL SEASON. THESE EFFORTS INCLUDED CREATING A NEW NUTCRACKER TO BE PERFORMED OUTDOORS, WHICH ULTIMATELY HAD TO MOVE TO A FILMED/STREAMED VERSION DUE TO INCREASED RESTRICTIONS. IN THE LATE SPRING OF 2021, THE COMPANY RETURNED TO FULL TIME OPERATIONS FOR TWO MONTHS. THERE WERE 18 SOLD OUT PERFORMANCES AT A TEMPORARY OUTDOOR THEATER, FEATURING "GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS, AND "EMERGENCE" REPERTORY PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDED CONTEMPORARY WORKS "SAME AND "STRINGS AND EXCERPTS FROM CLASSICAL FAVORITES "LADY OF THE CAMELLIAS AND "DON QUIXOTE." ADDITIONAL COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS INCLUDE STREAMED PROGRAMS WITH THE RI PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, AN OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE AT THE PAWTUCKET ARTS FESTIVAL WITH AUREA ENSEMBLE, AND A FULL LENGTH FILMED/STREAMING PROGRAM FOR THE PPAC ARTS SHOWCASE SCHOOL PROGRAM.


DURING THE 2020-2021 ACADEMIC YEAR, EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES WERE TAILORED TO INCLUDE ROBUST OPTIONS FOR HYBRID AND REMOTE LEARNING WHILE IN-PERSON CLASSES AND PROGRAMS RETURNED WITH CERTAIN COVID PROTOCOLS. CLASSES WITH LIMITED SIZE, CLEANING PROTOCOLS, AND MASK WEARING RESUMED IN SEPTEMBER 2020 AND CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR 200 ENROLLED STUDENTS. CLASSES INCLUDED BALLET, POINTE, CONTEMPORARY, JAZZ, AND CHARACTER, INTRODUCING A NEW CHINESE AND INDIAN FOLK DANCE UNITS. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES WERE CARRIED OUT LARGELY REMOTELY, WITH A NEW PROGRAM CALLED VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP FEATURING DOZENS OF HOURS OF LESSONS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE AVAILABLE TO TEACHERS AND STUDENTS. LONGSTANDING IN SCHOOL RESIDENCIES WERE CONTINUED ONLINE, WITH LIVE VIDEO INSTRUCTION CARRIED OUT BY OUTREACH EDUCATORS. OUTDOOR MOVEMENT CLASSES CALLED "NEIGHBORHOOD MOVES" WERE HELD IN PUBLIC SPACES THROUGHOUT PROVIDENCE.
