OVER THE PAST YEAR, OUR WORLD HAS BEEN DRAMATICALLY CHANGED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC WHICH HAS TOUCHED ALL PARTS OF THE GLOBE AND CAUSED MORE THAN 280,000 DEATHS IN THE UNITED STATES AND MORE THAN 1.6 MILLION DEATHS AROUND THE WORLD. (THESE FIGURES REFLECT THOSE AS OF THE END 2020. NUMBERS HAVE SINCE FAR SURPASSED THIS). IT WAS TRULY BEEN A YEAR LIKE NO OTHER. THE EXTRAORDINARY RANGE OF PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVTIES IN WHICH WE ARE DEEPLY ENGAGED SPAN FROM COVID RELIEF TO SOCIAL JUSTICE, TO DISEASE CURES, TO MEDICAL ADVANCES TO WOMEN'S CAUSES, TO TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION, TO LITERACY PROGRAMS, TO PROTECTING ORPHANS, TO NEXT-GEN PHILANTHROPY. THE HEROIC INDIVIDUALS WHO CARRIED OUT ALL OF THESE SACRED PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS HAVE AT LEAST ONE THING IN COMMON: THEY CARRIED OUT THEIR WORK WITH THE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE OF THE GIVING BACK FUND. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC: WE HAVE DISTRIBUTED THOUSANDS OF TABLETS TO HOSPITALS AND NURSING HOMES SO END OF LIFE PATIENTS CAN SEE SPEAK WITH THEIR LOVED ONES DURING THIS MOST HORRIFIC PANDEMIC; FOCUSED ON RACIAL JUSTICE AT THIS TIPPING POINT MOMENT, THROUGH ADVOCACY, SCHOLARSHIPS, SYSTEMIC CHANGE; WE SUPPORTED VICTIMS OF SEXUAL TRAFFICKING AND FOUGHT TO PREVENT IT ON THE GLOBAL STAGE; WE PROVIDED FOOD AND OTHER NECESSITIES FOR THE HOMEBOUND DURING SHELTER IN PLACE AND IMMUNOCOMPROMISED AND THE ELDERLY; RAISED FUNDS TO SUPPORT INDEPENDENT MUSIC VENUES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE COUNTRY WHO FOUND THEIR DOORS SHUDDERED AND LIVELIHOOD OBLITERATED DURING THIS MOST TRAUMATIC TIE IN OUR HISTORY; AND WE SUPPORTED THE RIGHTS OF LGBTQ PERSONS IN THE US AND THE ALL OVER THE GLOBE...AND SO MUCH MORE.
