COMMUNITY BASED ALTERNATIVE TO THE COURT SYSTEM:THROUGH COURT DIVERSION, PRETRIAL MONITORING, AND DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAMS TO THE RESIDENTS OF ADDISON COUNTY, VERMONT. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR OFFENDERS AND YOUTH AT RISK TO FULLY APPRECIATE THE IMPACT THAT THEIR OFFENCES AND INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS HAVE ON THE VICTIM AND THE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS ARE ALSO GIVEN A CHANCE TO REPAIR SOME OF THE HARM CAUSED BY THEIR ACTIONS AND TO BUILD THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO AVOID FUTURE INVOLVEMENT WITH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
