THE MISSION OF THE BOOTHBAY RAILWAY VILLAGE IS TO CONSERVE, DISPLAY AND INTERPRET ARTIFACTS, AUTHENTIC PERIOD STRUCTURES AND TECHNOLOGIES UTILIZED IN MAINE DURING THE HISTORICAL PERIOD OF THE MID-19TH THROUGH THE MID-20TH CENTURIES.

THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A MUSEUM FEATURING OBJECTS RELEVANT TO VILLAGE LIFE IN MAINE BETWEEN ABOUT 1850 - 1950. COLLECTION ITEMS INCLUDE HISTORIC STRUCTURES, RAILROAD EQUIPMENT, CARRIAGES & AUTOMOBILES, ANTIQUE ENGINES, AND MORE. THE MUSEUM OPERATES A NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD AND ALSO OFFERS YEAR-ROUND EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDING CLASSES AND LECTURES FOR ALL AGES. ANNUAL VISITATION IS APPROXIMATELY 30,000 GUESTS.
