HIGHER EDUCATION: EDUCATION OF OVER 12,000 STUDENTS AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL. DURING THE 2019-2020 ACADEMIC YEAR, THE UNIVERSITY GRANTED 1,644 ASSOCIATE'S, BACHELOR'S MASTER'S, AND DOCTORAL DEGREES, REPRESENTING THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES, WESTBROOK COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS, COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE, COLLEGE OF GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES, COLLEGE OF DENTAL MEDICINE, AND COLLEGE OF PHARMACY. THE UNIVERSITY OFFERS PROGRAMS IN OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE, ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES, LIBERAL ARTS, PHARMACY, DENTAL MEDICINE AND OTHER GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE MAJORS. ADDITIONAL FACTS: THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND INCLUDES MAINE'S ONLY MASTER OF SCIENCE PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT PROGRAM AND MASTER OF SCIENCE NURSE ANESTHESIA PROGRAM. COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE: THE COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE IS DEDICATED TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF LIFE THROUGH THE EDUCATION OF OSTEOPATHIC PHYSICIANS, RESEARCH AND SERVICE. AUXILIARY SERVICES FOR THE DELIVERY OF HIGHER EDUCATION INCLUDE ROOM AND BOARD FOR OVER 1,500 STUDENTS. THE MISSION IS TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RESIDENT STUDENTS TO CREATE A HEALTHY AND POSITIVE RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY THAT ENHANCES ACADEMIC PURSUITS AND PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH. THE GOAL IS TO PROMOTE AN ATMOSPHERE ROOTED IN CIVILITY AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, AND ENCOURAGE REFLECTIVE THINKING AND ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT. THE STAFF STRIVES TO TEACH, MODEL, AND LEARN WITH THE STUDENTS THE VALUES OF COMMUNITY, INQUIRY, INTEGRITY, AND CARING. MAINTAINING A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENT ACTIVITIES CREATES A POSITIVE IMPACT ON CAMPUS LIFE FOR THE ENTIRE UNIVERSITY. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES: UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND OFFERS A NUMBER OF ONLINE SERVICES FOR OUR STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF: U-ONLINE - U-ONLINE PROVIDES STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF WITH SECURE, WEB-BASED ACCESS TO SELECT ADMINISTRATIVE, ACADEMIC, AND EMPLOYEE RECORDS. U-ONLINE IS THE ONLY ON-LINE OFFICIAL WEB-BASED SOURCE OF INFORMATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND. BLACKBOARD - THE BLACKBOARD LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IS AN ONLINE COURSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH TEACHING AND LEARNING TOOLS FOR COURSE PREPARATION, DELIVERY, ASSESSMENT, AND MANAGEMENT. THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND HAS IMPLEMENTED AN INTRANET USING MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT THAT ADMINISTRATIVE UNITS, COLLEGES, AND PROGRAMS UTILIZE TO PROVIDE SECURE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TO AUTHORIZED MEMBER OF THE UNE COMMUNITY. UNE ALSO UTILIZES ADDITIONAL MS365 SERVICES TO PROVIDE EMAIL, CALENDARING AND SCHEDULING, AND UNIVERSITY INFORMATION TO STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND PROFESSIONAL STAFF. THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND TRANSITIONED FROM AN OLDER PASSWORD SYNCHRONIZATION TECHNOLOGY TO A NEWER AND BETTER SOLUTION, OKTA. THE NEW OKTA TECHNOLOGY AFFORDS THE UNIVERSITY WITH A MORE ROBUST, SECURE, AND INTEGRATED SOLUTION FOR OUR ENTIRE UNE COMMUNITY AND SIMPLIFIES THE WAY THAT WE SECURELY GAIN ACCESS TO OUR EVERYDAY SYSTEMS (MS365, BANNER, BLACKBOARD, U-ONLINE, ETC.) BY ALLOWING USERS TO GAIN QUICK ACCESS TO OUR SYSTEMS THROUGH A SECURE SINGLE WEB PAGE. DURING THIS TIMEFRAME, THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND STANDARDIZED OUR SYNCHRONOUS COMMUNICATION PLATFORM TO THE ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING SERVICES. THIS ALLOWED THE UNIVERSITY TO MAKE FURTHER INVESTMENTS UTILIZING ZOOM TO SUPPORT TRADITIONAL, ONLINE, AND HYBRID TEACHING. SINCE THIS STANDARDIZATION, THE UNE COMMUNITY HAS LOGGED MILLIONS OF MINUTES OF PARTICIPATION WITH ZOOM.
