THE LITERACY COALITION OF CENTRAL TEXAS (LCCT) IS A NON-PROFIT WITH A MISSION TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF INTERGENERATIONAL POVERTY THROUGH HOLISTIC LITERACY SERVICES. LITERACY COALITION OF CENTRAL TEXAS WAS FOUNDED IN 2001 BY A NETWORK OF LITERACY PROVIDERS/COMMUNITY LEADERS TO ENSURE CENTRAL TEXAS FAMILIES/INDIVIDUALS HAVE SKILLS TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. NOW 67 MEMBERS STRONG WE EMBED HIGH QUALITY PROGRAMMING IN THE BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT SECTORS TO HELP STRENGTHEN THE WORKFORCE, BOLSTER NONPROFIT PROGRAMS, INCREASE LITERACY, AND BUILD STRONGER COMMUNITIES. LITERACY COALITION OF CENTRAL TEXAS PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS THROUGH DIRECT SERVICE AND THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIPS TO APPROX. 1200 UNDUPLICATED CHILDREN/ADULTS ANNUALLY (APPROX. 98% NON-WHITE, APPROX. 90% LOW-INCOME, AND APPROX. 40% SELF-REPORTING AS VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIMES).

The goal of this organization is to provide support services to patients and their families. Programs can include social and recreational activities for people who are recovering from surgery or a serious illnesses; supportive services for children who are ill and for their families which enable family members to remain with a child who is hospitalized; family and sibling support groups, and programs which attempt to make a gravely or terminally ill child’s final days, weeks and months more pleasant.
