GSMIT PROVIDES IN-DEPTH EXPERIENCES THROUGH EDUCATION PROGRAMS THAT CELEBRATE ECOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY, FOSTER STEWARDSHIP, AND NURTURE APPRECIATION OF THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK.

TO PRESERVE, PROTECT, AND PROMOTE THE UNIQUE HISTORY AND RICH CULTURE OF THE PEOPLE WHO INHABITED THE MOUNTAINS INTEGRATED INTO THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK AND ITS SURROUNDING REGION AND TO BE A RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY.

APPALACHIAN BEAR RESCUE CARES FOR ORPHANED AND INJURED BLACK BEAR CUBS FOR RETURN TO THEIR NATURAL, WILD HABITAT; INCREASES PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT COEXISTING WITH BLACK BEARS; AND STUDIES ALL ASPECTS OF RETURNING CUBS TO THE WILD.

THE CORPORATION IS ORGANIZED AND SHALL BE OPERATED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES WITHIN THE MEANING OF SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE OF 1986 IN ORDER TO PROVIDE COUNSELING AND HEALING SERVICES TO PROFESSIONALS AND LAY PEOPLE STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTIONS AND EMOTIONAL PAIN. THE CORPORATION WILL ALSO PROVIDE SHORT-TERM HOUSING AND SKILLS TRAINING, AMONG OTHER THINGS, TO AID IN THE RESTORATIVE PROCESS.
