THE NUMBER OF OPIOID-INVOLVED DRUG OVERDOSE DEATHS IN THE UNITED STATES FOR THE 12-MONTH PERIOD ENDING IN APRIL 2022 (81,692) INCREASED FROM 76,383 IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THE NUMBER OF DRUG OVERDOSE DEATHS INVOLVING SYNTHETIC OPIOIDS (EXCLUDING METHADONE; T40.4), PSYCHOSTIMULANTS WITH ABUSE POTENTIAL (T43.6), AND COCAINE (T40.5) CONTINUED TO INCREASE COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, DATA SHOWS A 60% INCREASE IN DRUG USE AMONG TEENS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE COVID EPIDEMIC. LAST YEAR, DRUG OVERDOSE DEATHS AMONG TEENS INCREASED BY 109%. THAT STATISTIC
