THE CITY OF LIVINGSTON IS LOCATED IN AN ECONOMICALLY DEPRESSED RURAL AREA NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. HISTORICALLY, THE CITY HOSTED A THREE DAY "SUMMERFEST" EACH SUMMER, WHICH RAISED FUNDS FOR THE CITY'S PARKS AND YOUTH PROGRAMS. THIS THREE DAY EVENT INCLUDED MAJOR NATIONAL TOURING MUSICIANS (I.E., IN PRIOR YEARS THE KINGSTON TRIO AND CHERYL CROW WERE HEADLINERS) AS WELL AS MORE LOCAL BANDS. THE LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL REUNIONS WERE HELD DURING THE THREE DAY EVENT, AND MANY CRAFT AND FOOD VENDORS ALSO PARTICIPATED. IT FUNCTIONED AS A MAIN DRAW FOR TOURISM AND SPENDING IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. THE CITY SUSPENDED ITS SUPPORT OF THIS PROGRAM SEVERAL YEARS AGO CITING INCREASED COSTS AND LAGGING ATTENDANCE. THIS ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED TO REVITALIZE THE EVENT.IN 2019, THE INAGURAL YEAR, THE EVENT WAS A ONE DAY PROGRAM, BUT IN FUTURE YEARS THE POTENTIAL EXISTS TO EXPAND IT BACK TO THE LONG WEEKEND. FUNDS ARE RAISED THROUGH LOCAL SPONSORSHIPS AND DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC.
