ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE OF NEW BEDFORD, INC., D/B/A HUMANE SOCIETY & SHELTER-SOUTHCOAST, PROVIDES SERVICES TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF HOMELESS PETS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES QUARANTINE SERVICES TO OTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS BRINGING ANIMALS INTO MASSACHUSETTS FROM OTHER STATES, RESCUES STRAY ANIMALS, PROVIDES THEM VETERINARY CARE AND OFFERS THEM FOR ADOPTION TO APPROPRIATE HOMES. THE PETS ARE ALL SPAYED/NEUTERED PRIOR TO ADOPTION TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF UNWANTED ANIMALS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OFFERS AFFORDABLE RABIES CLINICS, AND BOARDING SERVICES TO CURRENT PET OWNERS TO HELP PREVENT ABANDONMENT DUE TO THE COST OF PET CARE.

Also included are social clubs that provide opportunities for people to meet and socialize with their peers at dances, parties, picnics, barbecues and other companionable events; and special interest clubs which enable people to share hobbies or other interests with individuals with those same interests.
