THE FOUNDATION ALSO ACTS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, CULTURAL AND HEALTH ISSUES RESULTING IN PART FROM TRAVEL AND TOURISM WITHIN DESTINATION COMMUNITIES, WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY TO ENCOURAGE AND CONDUCT RESEARCH AND DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO PROTECT THESE LOCAL COMMUNITIES FROM THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF TOURISM.
