MISSION:

NCA CHAPTERS PROVIDE EDUCATION FOCUSED ON THE LOCAL NATIVE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA NATURE AT EACH CHAPTER. THAT INCLUDES OUTDOOR TOURS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS, BOY AND GIRL SCOUTS, AS WELL AS THE GENERAL PUBLIC. WE PROVIDE INSTRUCTION MATERIALS FOR DOCENT TRAINING AT THE LOCAL CHAPTERS. ASSISTANCE TO LA COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION IS PROVIDED IN MAINTENANCE AND RESTORATION OF VEGETATION, AND ABANDONED OR INJURED WILDLIFE. MOST OF THESE ACTIVITIES ARE BACK TO NORMAL SINCE THE PANDEMIC FORCED US OUT OF THE NATURE CENTERS, BUT SCHOOL TOURS HAVE YET TO RECOVER TO EVEN HALF OF THEIR FORMER NUMBERS DUE TO LA COUNTY'S REQUIREMENT THAT DISTRICTS SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT TO SHARE LIABILITY.
