THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH SCIENTISTS CAN PERFORM AND OTHERWISE ADVANCE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, FOR PUBLIC DISSEMINATION AND BENEFIT, AS WELL AS TO ESTABLISH INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS IN SCIENCE.

Because of their endowments, they are focused primarily on grantmaking and generally do not actively raise funds or seek public financial support. These are the most common type of private foundation. They are generally endowed, usually from a single individual or family. Private foundations are considered family foundations if relatives or the original donor are still active on the board of trustees or in the operation of the foundation.

MISSION:

PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN SUPPORT OF THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF STUDENTS ENROLLED IN LA JOLLA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 450 STUDENTS ENROLLED AT THE SCHOOL, OF WHICH ALL BENEFIT FROM THIS NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES INSTRUCTION TO OVER 300 CHILDREN AT BIRD ROCK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BY FUNDING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN ART, COMPUTER, PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND MUSIC THROUGH THE SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT.

TO ASSIST STUDENTS FROM LA JOLLA HIGH SCHOOL TO GO TO COLLEGE. THE FOUNDATION EXISTS TO GRANT SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL MEANS TO GO TO COLLEGE.

FRIENDS OF LA JOLLA SHORES IS A NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO ENHANCE AND PRESERVE OUR PUBLIC PARKS, BEACHES, UNIQUE COASTAL COMMUNITY AND MARINE ENVIRONMENT WHILE PROMOTING RELATED EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES.
