ARIZONA HEALTH INSURANCE POOL (AHIP) WAS FORMED IN 2006 AND IS A SELF-INSURED EMPLOYEE BENEFITS POOL ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO ARS 41-621.01 THAT PROVIDES HEALTH BENEFITS AND SERVICES TO NOT-FOR-PROFITS, CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS LICENSED TO DO WORK FOR THE STATE OF ARIZONA OR POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THE STATE OF ARIZONA. THE POOL OFFERS A COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH BENEFITS PROGRAM, INCLUDING MEDICAL, DENTAL, PRESCRIPTION, BASIC AND SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE, LONG-TERM DISABILITY AND A VOLUNTARY VISION PLAN. IN ADDITION, THE POOL OFFERS SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS (FSA), HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HSA) AND PHARMACY BENEFIT PROGRAMS.

THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A SCHOOL AND CHILDREN'S CENTER IN AFGHANISTAN TEACHING CHILDREN WITH LEARNING AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES. SOME ARE PARALYZED FROM THE WAIST-DOWN, HAVE LOST A LIMB OR EYE BUT SUFFER NO MENTAL OR COGNITIVE DEFICIENCY, WHILE OTHERS ARE DEAF OR MUTE OR SUFFER MENTAL RETARDATION. THE CENTER SERVES BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS FROM THE AGES OF 5 TO 18 YEARS OLD. THERE ARE CURRENTLY ABOUT 55 CHILDREN BEING SERVED IN 2012. THE CENTER PROVIDED COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS ARE A SUCCESSFUL MEANS OF PROVIDING REHABILITATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO THE AFGHAN POPULATION.
