THE MISSION OF THE FRIENDS OF SOUTH CUMBERLAND STATE PARKS, INC. IS TO AID AND ASSIST THE PARK MANAGERS AND STAFFS OF SOUTH CUMBERLAND AND SAVAGE GULF STATE PARKS IN MEETING THEIR OJECTIVES, AND TO INFORM, EDUCATE, ENGAGE, AND INSPIRE OUR MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC TO PROTECT, CONSERVE, AND ENJOY ALL THE RESOURCES OF THE PARK.

TO ENGAGE CONTINUOUSLY IN SUCH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS WHICH PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF MEMPHIS AND THE MID-SOUTH, TO SUPPORT THE REGION'S COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL BASE, AND TO HOLD ANNUALLY A CARNIVAL CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF THE REGION AND ITS PRINCIPAL ASSET-THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

Also included are organizations that preserve and manage coastal lands including shorelines, coastal waters and lands extending inland from the shore which affect coastal waters; bays, lakes, rivers, wetlands, estuaries, watersheds and other aquatic habitats.
