THE VELODROME DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION WAS CREATED TO GROW AND HELP SUSTAIN THE SPORT OF CYCLING IN THE UNITED STATES. THE FOUNDATION HELPED CONCEIVE THE NATIONAL SPORTS AND EVENTS CENTER, A NEW PROJECT FOR THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA. THIS WORLD-CLASS FACILITY, THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE U.S., WILL INCLUDE THE NATIONAL VELODROME, A STATE-OF-THE-ART INDOOR VELODROME, ALONG WITH CUSTOM DESIGNED SPACES TO HOST OTHER MAJOR ATHLETIC AND ENTERTAINMENT EVENTS. THE CENTER'S COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS WILL PROVIDE DYNAMIC AND CREATIVE OUTLETS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE INTRODUCED TO CYCLING. THE FOUNDATION'S CORE MISSION IN ITS SUPPORT OF THIS CENTER IS TO TEACH LIFE LESSONS THROUGH SPORTS AND TEAM BUILDING AND TO INSPIRE TODAY'S YOUTH TO INCORPORATE POSITIVE HABITS OF FITNESS AND HEALTH IN THEIR LIVES. ACTIVE PARTNERSHIPS WILL BE ESTABLISHED WITH REGIONAL STATE ORGANIZATIONS TO GROW AND ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL AND TO SERVE AS A TEMPLATE FOR OTHER FACILITIES AROUND THE COUNTRY.
