(THE CORPORATION), A DELAWARE NONPROT CORPORATION, HAS BEEN ORGANIZED ARE (1) TO PRESERVE THE FOLLOWING RIGHTS OF WORKING FAMILIES IN THE TWO NEIGHBORHOODS OF SOHO AND NOHO (LOCATED IN THE BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY) TO LIVE IN THEIR HOMES WITHOUT THE THREAT OF EVICTION, DISPLACEMENT OR COERCION FROM NYC GOVERNMENTAL OVERREACH AND (2) TO PROTECT THE ELDERLY, LOWER INCOME AND PIONEER ARTIST RESIDENTS IN THE TWO NEIGHBORHOODS OF SOHO AND NOHO FROM THE RISKS OF HOUSING INSECURITY PRESENTED BY LEGISLATION OR PREDATORY DEVELOPMENT.

LWAS MISSION IS TO WORK TOWARDS GOALS IN THE PATH TO EMPOWERMENT, CITIZENSHIP AND WELL BEING THAT WILL HELP DEVELOP SELF-SUSTAINING FAMILIES. WE HAVED ASSISTED APPROXIMATELY 25,000 WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH IMMIGRATION SERVICES, PARENTING AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WORKSHOPS.
