The goal of this organization is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy the organized recreational activity, sport or game of their choice. These programs may be offered by local clubs devoted to a particular activity or sport; may provide individual or team coaching assistance or instruction, access to equipment and facilities, and uniforms, if necessary; and may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in amateur competitions, usually at the local or regional level, and provide officials for games. These events are generally for the enjoyment of the athletes and are not at a high enough competitive level to be considered spectator sports.

Coaching, access to a swimming pool or other facilities, sports equipment, and officials for competitions are generally included.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE SUPERVISED RECREATIONAL BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FOR ALL BOYS AND GIRLS IN THE SOUTH LYON SCHOOL DISTRICT WHO DESIRE TO PARTICIPATE IN A LEAGUE, REGARDLESS OF RACE, COLOR, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN. THE GOAL IS THAT OUR YOUNG ATHLETES WILL DERIVE ENJOYMENT AND DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS THROUGH PARTICIPATING IN AMATEUR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL.

IN 2023, SOUTH WHIDBEY PARKS AND AQUATICS FOUNDATION (FOUNDATION), IN CONJUNCTION WITH SOUTH WHIDBEY PARKS AND RECREATION DISTRICT, HELPED TO PLAN AND PROMOTE A NEW PUBLIC AQUATIC FACILITY THAT WILL IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF OUR RESIDENTS. OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH EDUCATED THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE PROJECT'S BENEFITS AND WAS INTEGRAL IN BOTH EDUCATING THE COMMUNITY AND THE SUCCESSFUL PASSAGE OF A PUBLIC BOND THAT WILL FUND CONSTRUCTION. IN GENERAL, FOUNDATION EFFORTS PROMOTE HEALTH, FITNESS AND OUTDOOR RECREATION AND INCLUDED: 1) WORKING WITH HEALTHY ISLAND YOUTH INITIATIVE TO PROVIDE SPORTS AND RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOW INCOME YOUTH OF ISLAND COUNTY; 2) CONTRIBUTING FUNDS FOR TRAIL CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE IN SOUTH WHIDBEY PARKS; 3) COORDINATING AND MANAGING THE WHIDBEY ADVENTURE SWIM WHICH IS A USMS SANCTIONED ANNUAL OPEN WATER SWIM EVENT ATTENDED BY OVER 125 PARTICIPANTS AND SUPPORTED BY MORE THAN 50 VOLUNTEERS.
