MISSION:

ITS MISSION IS TO PREVENT JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND JUVENILE CRIME BY ENGAGING YOUTH WITH POLICE OFFICERS TO HELP CREATE A SAFER COMMUNITY AND PROMOTE THE HEALTHY PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, AND MENTAL DEVELOPMENT OF ITS YOUTH.PAL OPERATES THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE TOWN OF APPLE VALLEY AND THE APPLE VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT. THEIR STRATEGIC GOAL IS TO TARGET AND IDENTIFY "AT-RISK" COMMUNITIES AND YOUTH AND PROVIDE THEM WITH EDUCATIONAL, ATHLETIC, AND OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. PAL DEFINES "AT-RISK" YOUTH AS ANY YOUTH THAT ARE UNSUPERVISED DURING NON-SCHOOL HOURS.A.V.P.A.L OFFERS SEVERAL DIFFERENT PROGRAMS TO YOUTH IN THE TOWN OF APPLE VALLEY. THESE PROGRAMS WERE DEVELOPED AFTER SEEING A NEED FOR CHILDREN OF THE COMMUNITY TO LEARN PROPER SKILLS TO BE A SUCCESSFUL AND PRODUCTIVE PART OF SOCIETY. THE PROGRAMS RANGE FROM AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AT THE YOUTH CENTER AND BOXING GYM TO THE INTERVENTION PROGRAM KNOW AS S.H.O.C.K.

These programs may be offered by local clubs devoted to a particular activity or sport; may provide individual or team coaching assistance or instruction, access to equipment and facilities, and uniforms, if necessary; and may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in amateur competitions, usually at the local or regional level, and provide officials for games. These events are generally for the enjoyment of the athletes and are not at a high enough competitive level to be considered spectator sports.

MISSION:

SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR SINGLE ADULTS WHO WISH TO SAIL. PROGRAMS INCLUDE SAILING ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY AS WELL AS OCCASIONAL EXTENDED TRIPS IN OTHER AREAS. EDUCATION AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SEMINARS ON SAILING SKILLS, WINTER BRUNCHES, AND PARTIES THAT ARE GENERALLY HELD AT WEEKEND SAILING DESTINATIONS. SOS IS A VOLUNTEER BASED ORGANIZATION OF APPROXIMATELY 500 MEMBERS.

TO CREATE, FORM AND ESTABLISH A VOLLEYBALL CLUB TO PROVIDE INSTRUCTION IN VOLLEYBALL AND TO OFFER PHYSICAL RECREATION FOR CHILDREN THUS BUILDING ON SUCH VALUES AS TEAMWORK, FAIRNESS OF PLAY, LEADERSHIP AND RESPECT OF OTHERS; TO PROVIDE THESE OPPORTUNITIES TO FINANCIALLY DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN SEEKING TO EXCEL IN VOLLEYBALL WHO WOULD OTHERWISE NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SUCH OPPORTUNITIES.
