THE CORPORATION WAS FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF EMPOWERING VICTIMS OF FAMILY VIOLENCE WITH RESOURCES NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN SAFETY AND STABILITY FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS "TO PROVIDE SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC AND DATING VIOLENCE WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE SAFER, MORE STABLE LIVES FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN BY PROVIDING IN-DEPTH, PROFESSIONALLY SUPPORTED, COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES." THE ORGANIZATION SERVES THE SURVIVORS AND FAMILIES OF EAST BATON ROUGE AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. A BOARD OF DIRECTORS MANAGES THE OPERATIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION, AND THOSE DIRECTORS RECEIVE NO COMPENSATION FOR THEIR SERVICES. THE ORGANIZATION IS PRIMARILY FUNDED THROUGH GRANTS FROM VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES AS WELL AS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS, CORPORATIONS, AND INDIVIDUALS.
