THE CURRENT MEDIA WAS CREATED BY EXPERIENCED JOURNALISTS TO ADDRESS A SHORTFALL OF IN-DEPTH, THOUGHTFUL JOURNALISM IN THIS AREA. FURTHER, LAFAYETTE AND THE BROADER ACADIANA REGION LACK LOCAL OWNERSHIP AMONG ITS MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS. VIRTUALLY ALL OF THE PUBLISHERS AND UNDERCURRENT AWARDS HONOR 'WAVEMAKERS' WHO HELP MOVE THE LAFAYETTE COMMUNITY FORWARD AND DEMONSTRATE SELFLESSNESS, CREATIVITY AND A VISION FOR A BETTER LAFAYETTE.
