NIMJ'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE STUDY,IMPROVEMENT AND UNDERSTANDING OF MILITARY LAW AND THE MILITARY JUSTICE SYSTEM TO INCLUDE THE UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE AND THE INTERNATIONAL LAW OF ARMED CONFLICT. ITS ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: SUBMISSION OF AMICUS BRIEFS AND SIMILAR FILINGS IN SIGNIFICANT PENDING CASE; CONVENING AND CONDUCTING CONFERENCES AND OTHER MEETINGS ON CURRENT MILITARY LAW AND JUSTICE ISSUES BOTH DOMESTIC.AND INTERNATIONAL.


AVAILABILITY TO MEDIA FOR EXPERT COMMENT AND ANALYSIS ON SUCH ISSUES; EFFORTS BY FOIA REQUESTS AND OTHERWISE TO IMPROVE TRANSPARENCY ACCOUNTABILITY AND FAIRNESS OF THE MILITARY JUSTICE SYSTEM INCLUDING ARRANGING FOR OBSERVERS ON ONGOING PROCEEDINGS; CONFERRING AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING LEGAL SCHOLARSHIP ON MILITARY LAW ISSUES TO THE PUBLIC; PROVIDING MEDIA AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES; PRODUCTION AND PUBLICATION OF AN ON-LINE NEWSLETTER REPORTING DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD.EXPERT NONPARTISAN RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS ON MAJOR MILITARY LAW ISSUES TO THE PUBLIC MEDIA AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES; PRODUCTION AND PUBLICATION OF A NEWSLETTER REPORTING CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD
