HELPING OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH LIFE'S CHALLENGES AND CHANGES. FAMILY FIRST PROVIDES MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, EDUCATION, CRISIS INTERVENTION, AND OTHER SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP DEALING WITH ISSUES THAT ARE TOUGH TO TACKLE ALONE.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EDUCATION & SUPPORT AND SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVOR COUNSELING & ADVOCACY - MORE THAN 2,400 MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN WERE PROVIDED SERVICES TO PREVENT OR ELIMINATE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & SEXUAL ASSAULT. CHILDREN WHO HAVE WITNESSED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PARTICIPATED IN GROUPS TO ADDRESS THE EFFECTS OF CHRONIC STRESS & TRAUMA. MEN & WOMEN WHO ARE OFFENDERS WERE SERVED WITH BATTER'S INTERVENTION GROUPS WHERE THEY LEARNED THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE, PRECIPITATING FACTORS, VIOLENCE AVOIDANCE PLANNING & ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF DEALING WITH CONFLICT. SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND/OR SEXUAL ABUSE PARTICIPATE IN EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT GROUPS WHERE THEY LEARN ABOUT THE CAUSE & EFFECT OF VIOLENCE IN RELATIONSHIPS, SAFETY, SELF-ESTEEM & THE CHARACTERISTIC OF HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. MANY PARTICIPANTS WERE ASSISTED IN NAVIGATING THE LEGAL & COURT SYSTEM TO OBTAIN PROTECTIVE ORDERS & OTHER RELIEF. FAMILIES FIRST IS THE ONLY CERTIFIED AGENCY IN CENTRAL INDIANA SERVING ALL FAMILY MEMBERS AFFECTED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE-OFFENDERS, SURVIVORS, CHILDREN & SECONDARY VICTIMS WITH SEPARATE INDIVIDUALIZED AND GROUP SERVICES THAT TARGET THE NEEDS OF EACH FAMILY MEMBER.


SUBSTANCE USE EDUCATION & OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAMS - OUR ADDICTION COUNSELORS AND RECOVERY COACHES WORKED TO FREE ALMOST 1,095 ADULTS FROM THE PRISON OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE & HELPED LOVED ONES UNDERSTAND THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION. THRU PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING AND GROUP THERAPY, INDIVIDUAL CAME TO UNDERSTAND THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF ADDICTIONS ON THEIR ABILITY TO PARENT, MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT AND SUCCESSFULLY FULFILL OTHER FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ROLES. JOB SEARCH, RESUME WRITING, AND EMPLOYMENT READINESS COACHING HELPED IMPROVE THE EMPLOYMENT STATUS OF MORE THAN 75% OF OUR CLIENTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, ALMOST 395 MEMBERS OF CLIENT FAMILIES ATTENDED EDUCATIONS SESSIONS COVERING TOPICS SUCH AS UNDERSTANDING ADDICTIONS, STAGES OF ADDICTION AND RECOVERY, RELAPSE PREVENTION, AND THE DYNAMICS OF AN ADDICTED FAMILY.


IN-HOME FAMILY PRESERVATION COUNSELING & CASE MANAGEMENT - ALMOST 400 AT-RISK FAMILIES RECEIVED INTENSIVE IN-HOME THERAPY & CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO PROMOTE MORE NURTURING, PARENT-CHILD INTERACTIONS, IMPROVE CHILD WELL-BEING AND INCREASE FAMILY STABILITY. OUR ORGANIZATION, FAMILIES FIRST, STRENGTHENED FAMILIES BY PROVIDING PARENT EDUCATION, COUNSELING, AND LINKAGE WITH COMMUNITY RESOURCES. THE SERVICES WE PROVIDED PREVENTED THE TRAUMATIC SEPARATION OF CHILDREN FROM THEIR FAMILIES OR HELPED REUNIFY FAMILIES WHERE SEPARATION HAD OCCURRED. FAMILIES FIRST PLAYED A CRITICAL ROLE IN GIVING FAMILIES A CHANCE TO STAY TOGETHER OR REUNIFY, SPARING CHILDREN THE LOSS OF CONNECTION TO THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES. ALMOST 99.00% OF OUR CLIENTS WHO COMPLETED OUR SURVEY REPORTED A HIGH LEVEL OF SATISFACTION WITH THE SERVICES THEY RECEIVED FROM FAMILIES FIRST.


OTHER SERVICES OFFERED INCLUDE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING AND EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE, COMMUNITY AND PARENT EDUCATION, AND CRISIS AND SUICIDE PREVENTION.
